Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of MyKudos. They're written to be readable — not to trap you. If something isn't clear, email hello@mykudos.club.

1. What MyKudos is

MyKudos is a platform that helps professionals collect verified testimonials (“kudos”) from real colleagues, confirmed via LinkedIn identity verification.

MyKudos is not a reference service, a background check provider, or an employment verification tool. We verify LinkedIn identity — not employment history, title accuracy, or the truth of any specific claim made in a kudo.

2. Account requirements

To use MyKudos, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a genuine LinkedIn account in your own name. Using a fake, shared, or impersonated LinkedIn account violates these terms and LinkedIn's own terms.
  • Provide accurate information when asked. Intentionally false profile information can result in account suspension.

3. User-generated content

You own your kudos. The text of a kudo belongs to the person who wrote it (the giver) and the person it describes (the recipient).

By submitting a kudo through MyKudos, the giver grants MyKudos and the recipient a non-exclusive license to store, display, and transmit the kudo content for the purposes of operating the service — including showing it in the recipient's library and, if the recipient chooses, sharing it with specific third parties like recruiters via a verified pack.

MyKudos does not claim ownership over any kudo content and will not publish or distribute it beyond the recipient's explicit actions.

All kudo content is created by users. MyKudos does not author, edit, curate, or endorse the content of any kudo. Users are solely responsible for the content they create.

By submitting a kudo, you confirm that:

  • You are the author of the content.
  • The content reflects your genuine experience and honest opinion.
  • You have not been compensated to write the kudo.
  • You are not impersonating anyone.
  • The content does not defame, harass, or violate any third party's rights.

4. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • Fabricate kudos for yourself or others, or submit kudos that contain false employment claims, invented achievements, or defamatory statements about third parties.
  • Coordinate reciprocal kudos (“I'll write one for you if you write one for me”) or solicit kudos in exchange for payment, gifts, or any other consideration.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your professional relationship to the kudo recipient.
  • Use MyKudos to harass, defame, or harm a former colleague or employer.
  • Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, copy, or extract kudo data using automated tools or for commercial purposes outside the service.
  • Send unsolicited kudo requests at scale. Request links are for genuine, one-to-one outreach only.

We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or permanently close any account for violations of these rules, without prior notice. For serious violations — fabricating kudos, coordinating fake testimonials, impersonation — we may act immediately.

5. Verification scope

The “verified” marker on a kudo means the person who wrote it authenticated with LinkedIn at the time of submission. We capture their name, profile photo, and LinkedIn profile URL via OAuth.

We do not verify:

  • The truthfulness, accuracy, or factual claims within any kudo.
  • Employment history, job titles, or company affiliations.
  • The professional relationship described between giver and recipient.
  • Any specific outcomes, results, or achievements mentioned.

Users and recipients of verified packs — such as recruiters or hiring managers — should treat kudo content as the personal opinion of the giver, not as a fact verified by MyKudos. MyKudos does not independently verify reporting relationships, dates of tenure, or any factual statement within a kudo. Recipients and their audiences should apply their own judgment.

6. Service availability

MyKudos is provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. The free tier has no uptime guarantee. We aim for high availability but may perform maintenance that causes temporary downtime, and we'll try to give advance notice where possible.

Pro tier users may receive priority support, but no formal service-level agreement applies unless explicitly agreed in writing.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features — including the free tier — with reasonable notice.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time by emailing privacy@mykudos.club. All your personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MyKudos and its operator are not liable for:

  • Decisions made by recruiters, employers, or other third parties based on kudo content.
  • Damages arising from inaccurate, misleading, or defamatory content authored by users.
  • Service outages, data loss, or interruptions in availability.
  • Indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.

Our total liability to you for any direct damages is capped at €100 or the total fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim, whichever is greater. The free tier carries no service level agreement and provides no compensation for service disruptions.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless MyKudos and its operator from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the service.
  • Content you create, share, or distribute via verified packs — including kudos that are false, defamatory, or in violation of a third party's rights.
  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any applicable law or third party's rights.

10. Content removal requests

If you believe a kudo contains false, defamatory, or unauthorized content — whether about you or someone else — contact privacy@mykudos.club with:

  • The relevant kudo or verified pack URL.
  • A description of the issue and why you believe the content is problematic.
  • Verification of your identity (e.g. the LinkedIn profile URL associated with your account, or a statement from the same email address).

We review such requests within 7 business days and may remove content at our discretion. We will notify you of the outcome.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service lies with the courts of Berlin, Germany, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

If you are a consumer resident in another EU member state, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may also apply and are not excluded by this clause.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the “last updated” date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
